Visitation will be Thursday Evening from 6- at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Greg is survived by his 2 sisters Michelle Tuttle and husband Darren of Liberty Hill, Texas and Renee Cripes and husband Neil of Bertram, Texas.
Funeral services will be held Friday, November 3, 2017 at Sunset Funeral Home in Odessa, Texas at P. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Altus Hospice 100 N. He was preceded in death by his parents Ruby and Charles Henderson. The family moved to Liberty Hill, Texas in 1929, in a mule-drawn wagon.
He was born March 31, 1932, at his family home in Southhampton Township, Chaneysville, Pennsylvania; he was the first son to the late Floyd V. He took pleasure in stock car racing from cars he had built.
Grandchildren: Casey Irvin, Stormy and wife Jade Irvin, Baylee and Bryce Mc Glothlin, Dusty and wife Victoria Lockhart, Toby and wife, Ashlee Lockhart and nana’s special angel Audrey Lockhart. Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at Waldrope Hatfield Hawthorne Funeral Chapel with Doc Sutton officiating. Granddaughter Mackenzie Westbrook, Grandsons Vance Bauer, Logan Bauer and Travis Westbrook, Brother-in-law Herman Powell, Nephew Bill Case and wife Julie, Niece Carol Jones and husband Greg, and numerous great nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Great Grandchildren Brylee and Payton Irvin, Wyatt and Walker Lockhart and soon to be born Harper Lynn Lockhart as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. Serving as pallbearers will be Dusty Lockhart, Toby Lockhart, Casey Irvin, Stormy Irvin, James Lockhart, Tony Irvin and Bryce Mc Glothlin. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 from PM to PM at the Waldrope-Hatfield-Hawthorne Funeral Home in Llano.
And true to Von’s nature, he custom built a very small mini-bike to ride while in full “klown” dress, made to ride, rather than walk the miles of parade routes; also, among his many creative inventions was a fabricated vacuum cleaner, for inflating balloon-twisted characters.
Von transferred his American Legion and Masonic Lodge memberships immediately upon moving to Bluffton, Texas… Never finding a stranger, he quickly made wonderful loyal friendships, which he cherished.
